The Institute of International Relations (IIR) invites you to participate in a Symposium titled, The Caribbean on the Edge: Rising above the orthodoxy of Development Thinking: A Tribute to Sir Alister McIntyre.

The symposium takes place on September 11 and 12 from 8.30am to 5pm at the UWI Inn and Conference Centre.

About Sir Alister McIntyre

Sir Alister was known as a venerable Caribbean integrationist and, as a practitioner, piloted the movement for integration as Secretary-General of CARICOM from 1974 to 1977. He was also a former The Vice-Chancellor from 1988 to 1998. He passed away in 2019. Read this Statement Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles about his passing here.

About the Symposium

The event seeks to foster discussion on new policy approaches to development challenges in the Caribbean.
