The Department of Behavioural Sciences is pleased to invite submissions for the in person biennial Postgraduate Research conference, Advancing Caribbean Thought, Research and Praxis on October 9-10, 2025 @ The UWI St. Augustine.
Submissions may engage with the following topics, although additional themes are welcome:
-Activism, solidarity and social movements
-Caribbean intellectual, philosophical and everyday thought
-Caribbean epistemologies and methodologies
-Caribbean youth and empowerment
-Decolonial approaches to Caribbean social problems including, those related but not limited to areas of:
-Climate justice, food security, crime
-Social justice, equity, inclusion
-Diversity
-Governance, democracy and political economy
-Health, well-being, resilience and human rights
-Ideology, technology and social change
-Multiculturalism, migration, collective memory and heritage
-Race, ethnicity, gender, class
-Social and economic planning
Submission Guidelines:
Papers, fully constituted panel submissions and hard copy poster submissions are invited.
Submissions should include:
1. For paper submissions: a title, a 300-500 word abstract, and the presenter’s name, affiliation, and contact information. Abstracts are accepted in English only. Individual papers may include collaborative/team research.
2. For panel proposals: a title, a 300-500 word abstract for the panel, a 150-200 word abstract for the individual paper, the panel chair’s name, presenters’ names, affiliations, and contact information. Abstracts are accepted in English only. Panels should consist of 3-4 papers.
3. For poster submissions: a title, a 300-500 word abstract, and the presenter’s name, affiliation, and contact information. Abstracts are accepted in English only. Poster submissions may include collaborative/team research.
Submission Deadline: 15th May 2025
Notification of Decisions: 31st May 2025
