Revised GPA Requirement for First Class Honours (Undergraduate Programmes)

The Board for Undergraduate Studies (BUS) of The University of the West Indies has approved a revision to the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) required for the award of First Class Honours in undergraduate programmes.

Effected on August 1, 2026, the required GPA for First Class Honours increased from 3.60 to 3.70 for new undergraduate students and applies to: 

1.      Students starting the programme in or after 2026/2027

2.      ​Students who entered their programme before the 2026/2027 academic year will continue to be assessed under the GPA requirements that were in effect at the time of their entry, including the First Class Honours threshold of 3.60, up to and including the 2031/2032 academic year.
