Hurricane and Earthquake Alleviation Research (HEAR) Award

Inspired by the recent events in the region due to earthquakes and hurricanes, this award is meant to encourage the research culture and innovation among all people beyond the conventional academics to find solutions in this critical area. The call for Principal’s Research Award titled HEAR Award is open to ALL all researchers and innovators across the country including all Tertiary Institutions and Secondary School teachers and Students.

    This HEAR awardee will receive an award Plaque, Certificate and Cash reward of $ 10,000 at the awards ceremony.

    Who can apply?

    Any researcher or innovator who is researching or has invented something that alleviates the damage and suffering caused by hurricanes and earthquakes can apply for this award. This alleviation can be related to health, disability, financial arrangement, food security including crop resilience to wind and floods & climate smart agriculture, construction and hurricane packages but this list not exhaustive.

    Applications should be submitted to the Research Awards Committee’s email STA-research.awards@sta.uwi.edu on or before 11:59 PM of Monday 23 September 2024. Applications should be submitted in Word / PDF format. No late submissions will be accepted.
