UWI Pelican magazine wins APEX Awards

The international Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) for 2009 are out, and The University of the West Indies (UWI) is once again in winners’ row. The UWI Marketing and Communications Office, under the direction of Dawn-Marie De Four-Gill, took home APEX Awards in two categories: Websites and Photography.

“We always look forward to entering APEX because it is a chance not only to promote UWI’s work, but also to have our public relations and marketing activities assessed and recognised by an international panel of experts,” said De Four-Gill.

The international APEX Awards for Publication Excellence recognise excellence in publications works by communications professionals. Evaluated on the basis of distinction in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence, the annual competition salutes outstanding entries in each of the categories. APEX 2009 marked the 21st Annual Awards, and with close to 3,785 entries, the competition in this year’s programme was exceptionally intense.
