Demography, Space and Time: Planning for Caribbean Development

It is estimated that there are more than 44 million people in the Caribbean. How can the study of demographics help us solve our region’s problems and develop a path to better lives for its peoples?

This online event, hosted by the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES), will be presented by Dr Godfrey St Bernard, scholar in the field of Social Demography.

The UWI SPEC International Half-Marathon and 5K

Put on your running, jogging, and fast-walking shoes, and come out to this beloved athletic event. Every year, participants at all levels take part in the half-marathon and 5K races, running for glory, to test the limits of their endurance, or just to have an entertaining outing with friends, colleagues, and other runners.

This year, UWI SPEC is partnering with The Dyslexia Association of T&T to support their initiatives by raising funds and increasing awareness.

Principal’s Research Awards 2024

Breakthroughs in the arts, sciences, engineering, food and agriculture, sports and others will be celebrated yet again this year at the Principal’s Research Awards. Researchers whose work has the potential to better communities, support economic development, protect the vulnerable, and help us better understand the mysteries of existence will be judged. Winners will receive prizes to help them further their work.

This year, a special Hurricane and Earthquake Alleviation Research (HEAR) award, open to all researchers at the St Augustine Campus, will be given.
