Transfer Credits

Students can get credits transferred (up to a maximum of 35) for the courses shown in the table (up to a maximum of 11 courses plus industrial experience); having completed their electrical diploma programme with a Grade C or better and within the last 5 years. Only three (3) transfer credits per course will be allowed, even though previously earned credits for the course may be higher than three (3).

Graduation requirements

All courses in B.Tech. Programme are mandatory.  For successful completion of B.Tech programme, students need to complete all the courses and secure the 114 credits in the programme.

Target students

Students from Trinidad and Tobago and other English speaking Caribbean islands with a 2 year Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

Academic Management and Course Offering

  • The courses in the technology programmes are offered over 3 (three) semesters in every academic year at the UWI FOE, St Augustine Campus
  • The standard UWI academic calendar is to be followed.  
  • The programme is of 2 years duration on full time basis, however it is offered in the evening on a part time basis, to facilitate students employed in local utilities and industries.  The courses are divided into 4 levels. The courses are numbered according to the level and category.   All courses are mandatory.
  • The course delivery sequence is shown below.
  • Annual intake of students:  40.
