Rules for Lab Users

1. Users should logoff when finished on the computer. Please do not save your files on the computer since the machines are reinstalled regularly and files are wiped.
2. If you need to leave your cell phone on while you are in the lab, please put it on vibrate.
3. If you wish to play music, please use headphones. If you play music without headphones, you will be given one warning. If you ignore the warning and continue disturbing the other users in the lab, your machine will be shut down and you will be asked to leave the lab.
4. There should be absolutely NO EATING, DRINKING OR SMOKING in the labs. Please place all discarded or unused paper in the bins provided. We would like to provide ALL USERS with a clean environment AT ALL TIMES.
5. PORNOGRAPHY IN ALL FORMS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. If a pornographic picture is displayed on your screen you will be asked to remove it and if you do not comply, your machine will be shut down. Lewd pictures or text will not be printed.
6. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING OBSCENE LANGUAGE IN THE LAB.
7. If you need to download software on the system, PLEASE OBTAIN PRIOR PERMISSION from the Systems Laboratory staff.
8. To those students who do not belong to the Faculty of Engineering, this is an Engineering Laboratory and as such ENGINEERING STUDENTS HAVE FULL PREFERENCE TO ALL EQUIPMENT. We are however open to the student population to whom all rules apply and the conditions under which they can use the machines are subject to the Student Operator.
9. The STUDENT OPERATOR is RIGHT – please do not argue.
10. IGNORANCE OF THESE OR ANY OTHER RULES OF THE LAB IS NO EXCUSE.
