“Logistics Systems in the Horticultural Product Sector
 in Latin America and the Caribbean Region”

This side event will be held on July 2, 2013 at the Third International Conference on Postharvest and Quality Management of Horticultural Products of Interest In The Tropics” under the auspices and joint organization of The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Mona, Jamaica Campuses and the United Nation Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The Symposium will  have the  participation of international experts who will discuss about the state of Logistics in the Latin America and Caribbean Food Sector. The event will open with  a summarized presentation of country appraisals of logistics systems in the food sector of five countries in Central and South America. Analyses of the developments of food logistics of  selected Caribbean countries will precede. The event will end with an interactive debate between the experts panel and the attendants, discussing on different areas that concern logistics systems and management in the region. The event aims at providing remarks of key aspects that needs to be addressed at private and public level to make substantial improvement in food logistics.
