Conference presentations will be organised along the following five (5) subthemes:

  • The Energy Sector and Diversification
  • Trade and Development
  • Agriculture Sector Development
  • Services Sector including Financial Services

Papers and Posters submitted under the ‘Education and Human Resource Development’ thematic area should explore:

  • Fostering Entrepreneurship through Education
  • Planning the Education Sector and Human Resource needs to meet Diversification Challenges
  • Human Capital Needs in a Diversified Economy
  • Government Expenditure and Education
  • Education and Economic Development

Papers and Posters submitted under ‘Energy Sector and Diversification’ thematic area should explore:

  • Energy Sector and Economic Development
  • Energy Export Services
  • Energy Sector and Productivity
  • Exploring opportunities for other Energy Sources
  • Diversifying the Energy Sector to meet local demand

Papers and Posters submitted under the ‘Trade and Industrial Development’ thematic area should explore:

  • Trade and Industrial Development
  • The role of Remittances/Aid in Developing countries
  • Economic Integration and Regionalism
  • Division of Labour and Comparative Advantage

Papers and Posters submitted under the ‘Services Sector including Financial Services’ thematic area should explore:

Papers and Posters submitted under the ‘Agriculture Sector Development' thematic area should explore:

  • Promoting domestic food production

Guidelines

Guidelines for Abstract Submission - Papers and Poster

  • All Abstracts should be submitted in English.
  • Abstracts should be limited to 250 words;
  • Abstracts should indicate the conference theme under which it is being submitted.
  • Names of all the authors and the contact information of the lead author should be indicated.
  • Abstracts should detail the aims, methodology and findings.
  • All abstracts and papers should be submitted to cote@sta.uwi.edu by the deadline shown above.

Guidelines for Final Paper Submission

  • All Papers should be submitted in English
  • Title page must contain the full title; the affiliation and address of all author(s) as well as the name and full postal address of the author who would be responsible for correspondence and correcting of proofs.
  • Papers are to be submitted in headed sections and be no more than 30 pages in length typed in 12pt font with double line spacing and 2cm margin, inclusive of all charts, tables, references and appendices.
  • Tables and Figures should be included in the body of the text with short titles, sources of information. Tables and figures should be formatted in black and white.
  • Equations formatting of formulae in terms of type size, aligned and brackets etc should be used consistently throughout the document.
  • Short quotation should be enclosed in quotation marks and incorporated in the text. Longer quotations (more than 50 words) should be indented from both margins with no quotation marks. (all double spaced).
  • References are to be cited using the author date system.
  • All papers accepted would be considered for publication.

Method of Selection and Notice to Presenters

  • A Panel will review all submissions and make the final selection
  • Selection will be based on criteria such as relevance to the Conference theme, applicability to the Caribbean Economies and its ability to be published.
  • Individuals whose abstracts have been chosen would be notified via email no later than September 4th 2016.
  • On notification presenters would be required to submit the completed paper by September 26th 2016 and power point presentation no later than 3rd October 2016.
  • CCMF Journal of Business, Finance and Economics in Emerging Economies and the ASSET Journal in recognition of the significant contribution which our honouree made to these journals.
  • The Department will provide all audio and visual equipment needed.
