Martin Franklin

Mr. Martin Franklin (2009 – 2014)


Mr. Franklin is a retired Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Economics at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. He currently serves as a Member of the Public Service Commission of Trinidad and Tobago and as Assistant Coordinator of the Trade and Economic Development Unit (TEDU) on the St. Augustine Campus. He served as Deputy Dean, Distance and Outreach of the Faculty of Social Sciences over the period 2006 – 2009 and acted as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences on various occasions over the period 2012 – 2014.

As a Lecturer in the Department of Economics, he has taught courses in Introductory Statistics, Economic Statistics, Statistical Methods and Mathematical Methods for over twenty (20) years, completed a range of technical reports for regional and international organisations and participated in a number of other research projects. The listing of technical reports and other research projects is presented below. He has also lectured in Quantitative Business Analysis within the Executive MBA Program at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business over the period 2007 – 2013.

Prior to taking up full time employment with The University of the West Indies in 2001, Mr. Franklin led and participated in a range of surveys and consultancies in the local and regional private and public sectors in his capacity as Senior Associate, El Perial Group (which includes the market research firm, HHB & Associates Limited).

During the period 1999 – 2001, he held the position of Manager – Administration and Logistics within the management team that planned and managed the introduction of the Emergency Ambulance Service (EHS) in the twin-island state of Trinidad and Tobago.
