This course treats with the principles that emerge in the context of more advanced techniques of demographic analysis. It covers demographic techniques based on stable and quasi-stable population theory as well as model schedules of fertility, mortality, nuptiality and migration. As such, the course seeks to develop techniques that are critical in the conduct of demographic analyses in environments and other settings where data are incomplete or defective. The course also seeks to introduce students to multistate increment-decrement life tables as well as survival analysis.
