Azim Abdool is an Assistant Lecturer in Computer Systems Engineering with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine. He is passionate about engineering education, with a teaching portfolio that reflects his philosophy, scholarship, and history (link).

His research centers on sustainable and affective intelligent systems. The study of affective systems aligns with the goal of creating technologies fit for people and planet. This commitment extends to his teaching, where he emphasizes the role of affective outcomes in engineering education. He is the Principal Investigator of the SEMI (Sustainable Embedded Micro-Intelligence) Lab at the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center (AIIC), UWI. His research publications are available via his Google Scholar profile.

He is a professional computer systems engineer and a member of IEEE and APETT. Since 2015, he has also been a Director of Fasove Product Development Ltd., a technology startup that supports incubating innovation and advancing a culture of applied research and product development. He earned his B.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UWI in 2008, was a Research Associate at the University of York, UK (2012), and is currently reading for his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UWI.
