COMPETITION
Background:
The Entrepreneurship Unit (EU) in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Science (FSS) is pleased to invite students, faculty and staff of The UWI to participate in a Creative Work Entrepreneurship Competition. The goal of this Competition is to increase the awareness of Entrepreneurship across the Campus by encouraging and stimulating entrepreneurial thinking.
The theme of the Entrepreneurship Competition is “Entrepreneurship, UWI & Me”. You are invited to reflect upon what this theme means to you and produce a creative concept piece which depicts your interpretation of this theme. Your creative piece can be expressed in the following ways:
1. Two-Dimensional Expressive Forms - Drawing, Painting and Mixed-media, Graphic Design
2. Audio, Video or Written Expressive Form - Videos, Music, Prose or Poetry, Printmaking example Posters and Textile Designs
2. Three-Dimensional Expressive Forms - Sculpture and Ceramics, Leathercraft, Fibre and Decorative Arts
Competition Guidelines/Instructions:
Step 1: Visit the Entrepreneurship Unit Website
Step 2: Completed the registration/entry forms by November 16, 2020
Step 3: Based on the theme and the selection criteria, create an original concept utilizing artistic expression(s) with an accompanying description (optional)
Step 4: Upload your artistic concept piece onto You Tube and send the URL along with the completed submission form by November 30, 2020
Step 5: Winners will be asked to drop off their physical concept pieces at a later date
Eligibility Requirements:
- This Competition is only open to individuals who are currently registered Students (Undergraduate and Postgraduates) and Academic and ATS Staff who are currently employed at the St Augustine Campus of The UWI
- The Competition is only opened to single individual participation not groups/team participation
- The Competition allows for original pieces of “art” that is, your concept can be depicted using varying forms of artistic expression such as posters, videos, pictures, and artworks
Evaluation Criteria:
Entries will be judged based on established criteria:
- Concept – whether the piece narrates the theme or is in keeping with the theme
- Uniqueness – the originality of the piece with respect to the theme
- Visual Appeal – inclusive of the audio and visual quality of the piece
Where necessary or appropriate, a concept note, of 250 words or less, describing the piece will be accepted to help explain your idea, vision and inspiration for your piece.
Scoring Criteria:
- Alignment to Entrepreneurship Concept – 25%
- Creativity and Uniqueness – 25%
- Rendition Quality – 25%
- Inspirational – 25%
Selection Process:
- Entries will be judged by the members of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Committee based on the selection criteria outlined above
- The winners will be announced on December 7, 2020 on the website and various social media platforms
- A small ceremony (subject to the GORTT’s Covid19 guidelines) will be held on December 17, 2020.
- Entries will be exhibited to the Campus community in Semester 2 (subject to the GORTT’s Covid19 guidelines)
Competition Prizes:
- 1st Prize – Apple IPad 10.2” WIFI 32GB Tablet
- 2nd Prize – Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1” 32GB WIFI
- 3rd Prize – Amazon Fire Tab 10 HD 10.1” 32GB

Steps for Registering Online for the Competition
Step 1: Go to EU Website
Step 2: Click on Entrepreneurship Competition on the top right
Step 3: Click on Competition Details
Step 4: Read Instructions including the Eligibility Requirements and the Timelines
Step 5: If interested in registering, click Register for Competition
Step 6: Complete the Entry Form,
Step 7: Read and Terms and Conditions and Click “Agree”
Step 8: Click “Submit”
You are now registered for the Entrepreneurship Competition. Best of Luck!
Step 9: Upload your entries onto You Tube and copy the URL
Step 10: Click Submission of Entry
Step 11: Complete the Submission Form
Step 12: Include the URL for the entry
Step 13: Click Submit
