The UWI Children’s Centre will be hosting its first Food Art Exhibition on Friday 20th May, 2016 from 9:00am to 2:00pm. This innovation spearheaded by 4+ Educator Mrs. Rena Jangeesingh, is entitled, “Healthy Bites” with the theme “Local, Healthy Foods”. Participants will be required to create art pieces using a variety of media.

Preschoolers will assemble two-dimensional collages while primary and secondary school entrants compete with two-dimensional paintings and drawings using acrylics, water paints, charcoal, pens or pencils. Competitors from the UWI Creative Arts Department will present three-dimensional sculptures in a medium of their choice and tertiary culinary institutes must cook and build edible food or fruit displays.

Only one entry per school will be allowed and schools may enter an individual or team. Participants must use at least 75% local materials in their creations and prepare a written description of each art piece to be submitted upon registration.

Stay tuned for further details and competition rules. For more information, please contact Mrs. Rena Jangeesingh at (868) 662-2665.
