Doctor of Medicine (DM) in Medical Microbiology

Duration: 4 years
Programme Description: This programme aims to produce specialist clinicians who are competent to practice at consultant and specialist level in the different disciplines of medical microbiology – bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, and virology. The candidates must be able to take personal responsibility for their own activities, and to work well as part of a team in the development and delivery of the laboratory medicine component of healthcare services. This programme will produce a professional or specialist medical microbiologist who can respond to the expert needs of the country and region in laboratory management, diagnostic microbiological services, teaching and research.

Entry Requirements:
- A MBBS degree
- Full medical board practitioner registration in Trinidad and Tobago or any other territory of the Commonwealth Caribbean
- Current employment in the Regional Health Authority (RHA) as a house officer, OR a scholarship to fund studies
Candidates may be required to attend an interview to be eligible for selection to the programme.
