Dr. Jenelle Johnson’s training and experience is wide and varied.  Her Master’s degree is in Laboratory Animal Medicine but her clinical experience is in any animal that is considered non-domestic.  She has experience with animals such as traditional laboratory animal species, pocket pet rodents, exotic birds, reptiles and mammals including non-human primates.  She is particularly experienced in rabbits, guinea pig and hamster medicine. She also has experience in poultry production and diseases.   

She has been trained and offers training in research animal procedures and study design to anyone that needs such training.  She manages and breeds animals for use in research throughout The University.  She also lectures in topics related to use of animals in research and conducts many different types of research projects in many varied areas.

  • Poultry medicine
  • Laboratory Animal medicine and aiding in research
  • Animal Welfare and Veterinary Ethics
  • Use of cannabis products by the public

  • Problem-Based Learning Committee Chairperson, Co-ordinator and Tutor
  • Lecturing duties in various courses across the five years of the programme
  • Research Advisor – advising undergraduate and postgraduate students on study design and use of animals in research procedures
