I graduated with the DVM in 1995 from the UWI, and was the food animal teaching assistant for 4 years, before migrating to the UK in Nov 1999. I completed a Residency at the University of Cambridge in Food Animal Practice in 2002 whilst also completing my DipMRCVS by statutory examination and an MSc. from the Royal Veterinary College in Livestock Health and Production. I then worked in private farm practice throughout the UK for 18 months before winning a Wellcome Trust Fellowship to read for my PhD in Dairy Cattle Stress and subfertility at Leahurst, University of Liverpool (2004 -2008). I then returned to the UWI to take up a lectureship in Reproduction and passed the qualifying exam for the European College of Animal Reproduction (Ruminants & Herd Health) in Budapest 2012. Consequently, I am a Diplomate and recognised Specialist with both the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation.

I spend most of my time involved in undergraduate teaching in Ruminant Reproduction and Medicine while also being Unit co-ordinator and senior farm animal clinician. I spend most of my clinical time with my arm stuck up cows. I absolutely love a good calving, although a nice uterine prolapse does the trick, as well!

Research is mainly in Stress and Reproduction; Pregnancy Diagnosis in Buffalo and Blood Transfusions in goats, although I have recently branched out to include work on neo-tropical rodent reproduction.
