Key Tools of FIFA Club Licensing Systems

The Department of Management Studies presented a public lecture on the topic, Key tools of FIFA Club Licensing Systems: How the implementation of these systems can help your sports clubs, featuring Mr. Mario Maggi, Project and Club Licensing Manager, Football Federation of Peru on Saturday 2nd June 2018.

About Mario Maggi

Mr. Mario Maggi Schultz is from Lima, Peru.  He speaks his native Spanish, fluent English and good Italian. Mario was a member of his high school football, athletics and swimming team. He is the 1998 Under 16 National Swimming Champion and the 2010 Master National Swimming Champion. He is a FIFA Master Alumni (in Management, Law and Humanities in Sport) with a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, from the University of Lima. He has gained experience within sport federations and transnational corporations at the executive and management level.

At present, Mario’s main function is to lead the Football Federation of Peru (FPF) Club Licensing System (CLS) implementation. He is also leading the Competition Department as Competition Director for the Lima 2019 Panamerican Games and FIFA Under 17 World Cup. He has developed the Strategic Plan of the FPF, Plan Centenario 2022. His other responsibilities include conducting the strategic alliance with the infrastructure area of the Peruvian Sport Institute and foster new projects with the government and sports organizations.

Peru launched the first Annual Report of the FPF CLS 2016: “The Institutionalization of Professional Clubs.” In July 2016 and 2017, FIFA and CONMEBOL invited the FPF to I and II Club Licensing Seminar where Peru’s representatives were part of the panel of speakers. During 2017, the federations of Argentina, Chile and Ecuador asked FIFA for the Club Licensing Exchange program, to go to Peru because they consider Peru as the benchmark of the region. The federations of Argentina, Ecuador and Costa Rica invited the FPF to their CLS Seminars to present the implementation of the CLS in Peru and their experience in the process.
