Students on Dean's Hold

Students on Warning

Students who are required to withdraw (RTW)

A Dean’s hold is placed on a student’s record when his/her GPA is below 2.0 in a semester. The student is placed on Warning for the semester, and it is normally recommended that these students do no more than three (3) courses until their GPA increases to 2.0 or above.

Instructions

Create an Academic Plan

  • Download the academic advising form for your respective programme;
  • Highlight the compulsory courses for which you obtained a passing grade;
  • List any Level 2 or 3 electives completed;
  • Make a list the courses you plan to do in the upcoming semester.

Complete a Dean’s Hold Form

  • Complete a Dean’s Hold Form. The courses you wish to do in the currently semester should be listed under Section II of the form.

Submit your completed form and academic plan to Mrs. Pavitra Mohammed at Pavitra.Mohammed@sta.uwi.edu.

Once approved, your request will be forwarded to the Office of the Dean where the hold will be lifted. You will receive instructions by email to proceed to register.

If your GPA is less than 2.0 for two (2) consecutive semesters, you will be placed on RTW (required to withdraw) and must sit out one year before applying for re-admission when applications reopen.

If you wish to appeal the RTW you may email the Deputy Dean for Undergraduate Studies, Dr. Regan Deonanan at Regan.Deonanan@sta.uwi.edu. This process is a lengthy one that requires several levels of approval (Deputy Dean - UG 4Deputy Principal4Examination Section).

Students who are reinstated:

  • Must first obtain Financial Clearance.
  • Next, complete a Dean’s Hold Form listing the courses you plan to do in the upcoming semester.
