The Faculty of Social Sciences

In a remarkable collaboration that underscored the fusion of academia and industry, the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) proudly celebrated the successful culmination of the Value Chain Investment Programme (VCIP) in partnership with FashionTT. The UWI/FashionTT VCIP Awards Ceremony held on November 25th 2023, not only honoured the creative achievements of local designers but also symbolized a commitment to the growth and sustainability of Trinidad and Tobago's fashion industry.

In an address by the Dean, FSS, Dr. Lewis-Cameron emphasized the importance of leveraging the expertise that lies in The University of the West Indies to empower individuals and businesses within the fashion sector. The Dean added "we were therefore focused on providing valuable insights, conducting research, and offering education that not only nurtures talent within the fashion sector but also extends to other promising sectors."

The Value Chain Investment Programme witnessed the dedication of 70 designers and their year-long journey showcased not only individual triumphs but also highlighted the collective impact of Trinidad and Tobago's creative community.
