MATH 3540 Introduction to Fluid Dynamics
Course Description
This course covers a general Orthogonal Curvilinear Co-ordinate System and thereafter looks at particular ones, that is, Cartesian, Cylindrical and Spherical. An introduction to tensors is then presented. This is followed by inviscid flows and special characteristics of such, in particular, Streamlines, Pathlines, Velocity Potential, Continuity Equation, Vorticity, Circulation, Euler's equation of motion with special cases, and Complex Potential. The final part derives the Navier-Stokes equation for viscous fluid flows and applies it to some cases that give rise to exact solutions.
