Click Power
‘Click Power’: An Online Photo Exhibition of Women in Caribbean Politics is part of a larger project to develop an Online Archive of images of women’s participation and power in Caribbean politics.
The Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS) at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus seeks digital photographs of women participating in political activities throughout the Anglophone Caribbean. Photographers do not need to be professionals.
We encourage photo submissions that take into account the region’s ethnic, class, age and religious diversity, as well as urban and rural differences. While photographs of women political candidates and politicians are welcome, we are especially interested in photographs of ordinary women’s participation in democratic politics, and the ways they combine their participation with other livelihood and family roles. Images should include a focus on: women in rallies, women on the campaign trail, women voting and at polling stations, women organizing in constituency offices, women speaking at cottage or community meetings, women canvassing in constituencies and communities and young women using the democratic process to advocate for gender justice.
Selected photographs will be included in an Online Photo Exhibition and Archive attached to the UWI-IGDS Website, as well as the websites of other partner organisations such as the International Development Research Centre in Canada and select UN agencies.
