Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a PhD in Political Science, Public Sector Management or a closely related field.

Candidates should also possess: 

  • Teaching experience at a recognized university or tertiary institution
  • A good record of research and publications in reputable, peer reviewed journals
  • Expertise in at least one (1) of the following areas: 

            - Public Sector Management

             - Human Resource Management

             - Anti-Corruption Strategies in Developing Countries 

  • Proficiency in teaching a range of courses in the Political Science, Public Sector Management or Human Resource Management 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage: 

  • Postgraduate teaching experience
  • Experience in course management
  • Supervision of postgraduate and undergraduate students
  • Prior evidence of the development of curricula and provision of academic leadership in the discipline 

The following would be considered assets:

  • Certificate in university teaching and learning
  • Experience in the Public Sector at the postgraduate level
  • Consultancy experience in Political Science or Public Sector Management
  • Prior evidence of organization of seminars and workshops in the discipline 

 

Special Responsibilities

  • Teaching in multiple modes: Face-2-Face, online and blended environments
  • Teaching, developing curriculum and conducting examination duties in the field of Political Science, Public Sector Management and Human Resource Management at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Providing academic advising to postgraduate and undergraduate students
  • Supervising graduate students at the MSc, MPhil and PhD levels in the area of expertise
  • Conducting research and publishing books, journals and articles
  • Collaborating with colleagues on Departmental activities such as outreach initiatives
  • Conducting classes held during the day and/or evening
