The UWI ranks among the best Universities in the World
The University of the West Indies (UWI) is named among a list of the world’s top Universities published by the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE). The UWI has ranked on THE’s lists since 2018 and continues to be the only Caribbean University included in any of its lists.
In June 2020, THE revealed its ‘Golden Age University Rankings’ featuring established higher education institutions around the world that have been around for 50 to 80 years. The UWI ranked among the top 100 using the same criteria and methodology as the World Rankings.
2021 saw The UWI rank among the best Universities globally for the category – national, regional and international ‘Impact’.
Our university is currently in the top 4% of universities worldwide, the top 2% in Latin America and the Caribbean, and in the top 1% of the Golden Age University Rankings. THE’s Impact Rankings in 2021 together with UNESCO base data has positioned The UWI in the top 2.5% of universities globally and we are the number 1 university in the Caribbean.
