The Department of Mathematics is currently developing a research capacity in Actuarial Science and has strong research in the areas of Stochastic Processes, Fluid Mechanics, Operations Research, Fuzzy Mathematics and Applied Statistics. The Department currently offers Undergraduate, Masters and Ph.D. degrees.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses;
  • Develop an active research programme;
  • Supervise research students at the undergraduate (final year), Masters and Ph.D. levels;
  • Participate in the strategic planning and management of teaching and learning, including curricula development within the Department and wider Faculty;
  • Carry out administrative duties as required by the department. 
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in any of the following areas of Pure Mathematics: Analysis, Algebra, Topology and Differential Geometry, Number Theory, Combinatorics, and Algebraic Geometry;
  • Experience in teaching and independent research, including a track record in attracting research grants, is desirable.
Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage: 
  • Certificate in University Teaching;
  • Experience in teaching and independent research;
  • Experience supervising research (MPhil/PhD) students;
  • Evidence of prior grant acquisition;
  • Evidence of Curriculum Development (face to face or distant delivery modes);
  • Administrative Experience within an Academic Institution;
  • Evidence of contribution to the Public Service OR field of Study.
