LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN BIOCHEMISTRY

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Teach Undergraduate and Graduate courses in Biochemistry and Biotechnology
• Participate in the training of postgraduate students for the MSc and MPhil/PhD degrees
• Conduct research and publication in the discipline of Biochemistry/Biotechnology and related areas
• Contribute to the development of the Biochemistry programme
• Contribute actively to development and affairs of the Department

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• PhD in Biochemistry preferably with experience in Industrial Applications
• He/she should have at least five (5) years’ teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical and science students
• Demonstrated scholarly research

Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage:

• Certificate in University Teaching
• Working knowledge of analytical techniques applicable to Biochemistry, e.g., HPLC, Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere
• A solid publication record
• Ability to attract external research funding
