Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess at minimum, a PhD in Finance or a closely related field. 

Candidates should also possess: 

  • At least two (2) years’ teaching experience at a recognized university
  • A good record of research and publications in reputable, peer reviewed journals
  • Expertise in teaching at least one (1) of the following areas: 

           o Banking

           o Investments

           o Risk Management

           o Insurance

           o Demonstrated proficiency to teach a range of courses in the Finance discipline

Candidates with the following would have an advantage: 

  • Professional qualification such as CFA, CFP, FRM and PRIMA
  • Postgraduate teaching experience
  • Experience in course management
  • Supervision of postgraduate and undergraduate students
  • Proficiency in the use of statistical software such as R-studio, E-views, SPSS and STATA

The following would be considered assets: 

  • Certificate in university teaching and learning
  • Experience in the practice of Finance at a senior level in Industry or in a Finance-based environment
  • Prior evidence of organization of seminars and workshops in the discipline
  • Proficiency in teaching and other closely related Finance areas such as, but not limited to:

           o Managerial Economics

           o Business Statistics

           o Basic Econometrics

           o Insurance

Key Responsibilities 

  • Teaching courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Finance
  • Participating in the design and management of courses
  • Developing a research programme and providing ongoing revision of the curriculum to keep abreast of development and innovation
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects
  • Collaborating with colleagues on Departmental activities such as outreach initiatives, research, teaching orientation and academic advising

Personal Attributes

The Campus places high priority on individuals of integrity who can work well in a team and student friendly environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates should also: 

  • Be able to teach in multiple modes such as Face-to-Face, online, hybrid and blended environments
  • Be able to conduct day and evening classes
