Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess at minimum, a PhD from a recognized university in Cultural Studies, Performance Studies, Caribbean Studies, Social Geography or a closely related field.
Candidates should also possess:
- At least three (3) years’ experience teaching at the tertiary level at a recognized tertiary institution/university
- Good record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
- Expertise in the following areas:
- Cultural Theory and Criticism
- Caribbean Studies
- Arts Based Research
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Masters’ degree in Cultural Studies or other related field
- Experience in practice-based or practice-led research or arts-based research production
- Evidence of additional scholarly and/or practical based background in one or several of the following:
o Visual and Performance Arts
o Digital Cultural Studies
o Social Justice and Equality
The following would be considered assets:
- Certificate in university teaching and learning
- Experience in supervising Cultural Studies projects at the postgraduate level
- Experience in course design and curriculum revision
- Experience in and openness to inter-disciplinary approaches to research
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Cultural Studies
- Researching and publishing in high-quality publications
- Supervising postgraduate research
- Assessing and examining student work
- Designing courses and revising curriculum
- Contributing to the administrative functioning of the Department and to the cultural and intellectual life of the University
Personal Attributes
