Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a PhD in Computer Science or closely related field, from a recognized university.

Candidates should also possess: 

  • Broad-based experience in Computer Science
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University level 
  • A good record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
  • Proficiency in at least three of the following areas:

            o Natural Language Processing

           o Deep Learning

           o Computer Vision

           o Robotics

           o Recommendation Systems

           o Knowledge Based Systems

           o Big Data Analytics

           o Embedded Systems

Candidates with the following would have an advantage: 

  • Demonstrable knowledge in the following: 

           o Programming

           o Web Technologies

           o Computer Architecture

           o Human Computer Interaction 

The following would be considered assets: 

  • Certificate in university teaching and learning
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate research
  • Competence in Computational Modeling 
  • Evidence of successful grant applications

Key Responsibilities  

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science and Information Technology programmes
  • Establishing independent research interests and maintaining research output and collaborations
  • Mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate research students
  • Participating in curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration activities
  • Applying for grants and developing an externally‐funded research programme
  • Conducting research and making significant contributions to the Department’s research output in peer reviewed publications

Personal Attributes
