Qualifications and Experience
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Research Fellow (Temporary), Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies, St. Augustine Campus. This post is aligned with SALISES’ mission to drive cutting-edge research and policy engagement in the Caribbean.
The successful candidate must possess at minimum, a PhD from a recognized university which should be in Governance, Social Sciences or a closely related discipline.
Candidates should also possess:
- A strong interdisciplinary background in security, conflict dynamics and digital transformation
- Experience in teaching in multiple modes such as face-to-face, online, hybrid and blended environments
- Evidence of research and scholarly activity related to areas of qualification
- Proven ability to conduct research using multiple methods, including surveys
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- A good record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
- Proven ability to collaborate with international and regional organizations and the public sector
- Substantive expertise in justice mechanisms, security frameworks, and dispute resolution strategies
The following would be considered assets:
- Experience supervising students at the postgraduate level
- Proficiency in research methods and data analytics for the social sciences
- Teaching at the postgraduate level
- Engaging in scholarly research and publication
- Participating in grant-funded research
- Delivering departmental and university consultancy services, public service outreach to both the University and the wider community
- Engaging in scholarly and professional committees related to subject expertise
- Collaborating with government and industrial partners on Applied R&D projects
Personal Attributes
The Campus places high priority on individuals of integrity who can work well in a team and student friendly environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates should also:

- Be enthusiastic, detail-oriented and self-motivated
