Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Veterinary Anatomy (Gross Anatomy) [REF#187/15/41 L1]

The successful candidate must possess at minimum from a recognised university: 

•  a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent 

             AND 

• a PhD in Veterinary Anatomy, with special expertise/concentration in Gross Anatomy or closely related field 

Candidates should also possess: 

• At least three (3) years tertiary-level teaching experience in Veterinary Anatomy
• A substantial record of relevant research and publications in reputable, peer reviewed journals
• Demonstrated ability to deliver laboratory/practical instruction (e.g., Prosection, Osteology, Plastination, Histology labs) and to effectively assess student performance  

Candidates with the following would have an advantage: 

• Experience teaching across multiple subdisciplines: Gross Anatomy, Microscopic Anatomy/Histology, Embryology, and Applied/Clinical Anatomy
• Experience facilitating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and small-group interactive teaching
• A proven record of collaborative, interdisciplinary research
• Experience in curriculum development and assessment design for Veterinary Medicine programmes
• Demonstrated success in supervising Anatomy and Histology teaching laboratories, including training and managing demonstrator teams
• Evidence of creative output such as successful research grants, educational resources, or innovation in teaching methods  

The following would be considered assets: 

• Training/Certification in university teaching and learning
• Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision
• Clinical experience that enhances teaching in applied and comparative anatomy
• Experience organising workshops or continuing education programmes in anatomy or related areas
• Competence in anatomy museum techniques and specimen preparation (e.g. Osteology, Plastination, Wet Collections)
• Competence in teaching related basic science areas beyond main expertise

Key Responsibilities 

• Teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in area of expertise
• Delivering lectures, laboratories, tutorials, and assessments in Gross Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Microscopic Anatomy/Histology, Embryology, and Applied/Clinical Anatomy
• Contributing to interdisciplinary teaching and the development of integrated/basic medical and clinical courses within the Faculty
• Participating in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and other student-centred teaching approaches
• Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students; mentoring Teaching Assistants and Demonstrators
• Supporting the Anatomy Teaching Laboratory and Anatomy Museum, including specimen preparation, curation, and safety
• Developing and maintaining an active research programme in Veterinary Anatomy; seeking external funding and publishing in reputable journals
• Facilitating interdisciplinary research collaborations across related disciplines
• Contributing to applied anatomy teaching in collaboration with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, linking anatomical knowledge to clinical practice
• Engaging in service and outreach, establishing local and regional linkages to support teaching, research, and the agricultural/veterinary sectors
• Undertaking administrative responsibilities in teaching, research, and other departmental activities as assigned by the Head of Department
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department or designate
