Applications are invited for the post of Audio-Visual Technician (Grade 7) in the Campus Office of Planning and Institutional Research.The Audio-Visual Technician provides support services to users of teaching and learning venues through the optimal operation of equipment and services.
Duties of the post include:
1.Setting up audio and video equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards and related electronic equipment for meetings and presentations.
2.Operating electronic, audio-visual and computer equipment for the delivery of lectures, presentations and events.
3.Maintaining electronic, audio-visual and computer equipment for the delivery of lectures, presentations and events.
4.Providing technical support for teleconferences, webinars and distance learning classes to utilize applications including but not limited to Zoom, Teams, etc. and Operating Remote Control Systems for audio-visual equipment.
5.Responsible for the procurement of supplies; managing and maintaining an inventory of equipment, software and supplies.
6.Preparing periodic status reports of audio-visual equipment as required.
7.Ensuring all audio-visual equipment is monitored and recommendations are made for repairs and or replacements.
8.Liaising with the necessary Departments and other agencies to ensure that audio-visual equipment is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient order and in good repair.
9.Receiving bookings for use of the Facilities at the ICT and assisting with preparing invoices to be distributed to clients.
10.Coordinating primary functions and assisting with special events on evenings and weekends.
11.Answering, directing and following up on queries from stakeholders of the Institute of Critical Thinking.
12.Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Applicants should be familiar with the University’s mission, structure, policies and procedures. Applicants must have knowledge, experience and understanding of the operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment in common use in lecture rooms. Applicants must have the ability to troubleshoot issues related to equipment failure. Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends/public holidays when required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Required:
Candidates must possess at least five (5) G.C.E ‘O’ Levels or CXC (General I, II or III from 1998) passes including Mathematics and English Language, and a Higher National Diploma or higher qualification in Information Technology/ Electronics/ Computer Science.
Desirable:
BSc in Information Technology/ Electronics/ Computer Science will be an asset.
Experience
Required:
At least four (3) years of experience using Audio-Visual equipment. Experience in Theatre work would be an asset.

Salary will be fixed in accordance with Grade 7 of the salary scale. ($8,253.00 x 296 - $11,805.00)
