Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess an LLM/JD, with a blend of academic, research and industrial experience; proven leadership experience; a strong international scholarly reputation for legal research; demonstrated ability to lead related research within the Faculty or other similar academic environment, and to win substantial external research funding. The candidate’s records should demonstrate:
- Outstanding teaching or research and at least fifteen (15) years related academic and professional/industrial experience as a distinguished Law professional
- A track record of team work; grant awards; original research; distinguished, original and innovative work; high quality publications in peer-reviewed international journals
- Membership of an internationally recognized professional body or Law institution
- High output capability in Legal Analysis
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Academic and administrative leadership
- Strong scholarly profile
- Strong networks within the profession
- Success in securing research funding
The following would be considered assets:
- A PhD in Law
- Experience in supervising Law projects at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels
- Experience in course design and curriculum revision
Special Responsibilities
- Managing the academic, administrative and budgetary affairs of the Faculty
- Exercising academic leadership in teaching, research, general scholarship and outreach and service
- Building strong links with the profession
- Chairing the Board of the Faculty and being the ex officio member of all committees constituted by that Board.
- Playing a role in the deliberations of various University/Campus Committees.
Personal Attributes
The Faculty places high priority on individuals of integrity who can work well in a team and student friendly
environment. Candidates should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A good
command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates should also:
- Have proven academic and administrative leadership skills
- Possess a strong scholarly profile
- Have strong networks within the profession
- Be successful in securing research funding
