[DEADLINE EXTENDED] Lecturer in Controls Engineering (Ref#173-2-15 L1)

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a PhD, which should be in Chemical Engineering,
Chemical and Process Engineering or a closely related field, with focuses in Process Controls and
Optimization.

Candidates should also possess:

• Teaching experience at the tertiary level
• Research in the area of expertise and experience with supervision of student projects
• A good record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
• Proficiency in the following areas:

           o  Process Dynamics & Controls
           o  Process Optimization & Simulation

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

• Teaching and supervision of student research projects at MSc level; involvement in PhD supervision
• Competence in Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics with demonstrated knowledge of current industry trends

The following would be considered assets:

• Experience in the Process Industry e.g. Operation, R&D, Design
• Expertise in Process Modeling and Simulation and Data Analytics

Special Responsibilities

• Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Chemical Engineering
• Supervising postgraduate (MSc, MPhil and PhD) student projects and mentoring of students
• Developing well recognized and independent research programmes capable of attracting external funding in their area of expertise
• Engaging with local, regional and international stakeholders, other Departments and academic institutions and Faculty through collaborative research
• Providing ongoing revision of the curriculum to keep abreast of development and innovation in the area of expertise
• Developing professional short courses to respond to the changes within the industry specifically focusing on local and regional needs
• Serving on Committees at the Department, Faculty and University levels
