Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess an MD/DM or any equivalent PG degree from a recognized
university, which should be in Pathology, FRCP/MRCP or American Board Certification.

 

Candidates should also possess:

  • Good record of research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
  • Five (5) years’ experience as a Pathologist after post graduate degree
  • Teaching experience at a tertiary level institution
  • Competence in surgical pathology, cytology or a closely related area
  • Competence in Problem based learning

 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • Postdoctoral Fellowship in Histology, Cytology, Forensic Pathology or a closely related
  • area
  • Practical experience in:

              o strategic curriculum development of postgraduate programmes
              o training of postgraduate students in laboratory medicine

  • Graduate teaching experience in Pathology
  • Supervisory experience in Pathology section/area

 

The following would be considered assets:

  • Certificate in university teaching and learning
  • Experience in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) system
  • Experience in blended teaching and learning
  • Proficiency in writing research grants and attracting funding
  • Evidence of organization and administration of PG teaching

 

Special Responsibilities

  • Teaching and coordinating courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Supervising research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as conducting research and collaboration with academics
  • Familiarity with Problem-Based Learning (PBL)
  • Conducting laboratory exercise in a large dry/wet laboratory setting
  • Supporting university assessment and examination activities
