FYE Mixers:

Held on the 14th and 21st of July, this exercise brought groups of first year students together on campus and gave them an exclusive opportunity to meet and connect with each other and build community, ahead of the start of the new  semester. The initiative was designed to allow for peer engagement and featured a  walking campus tour followed by an activity hub at the SAC in keeping with the overarching objective of facilitating the social integration of new students into our campus community, through the First Year Experience programme. The final round of FYE Mixers will be held later in the upcoming semester.

FYE Buzz:

A student led edu-tainment web-series, designed to support the transition and engagement of new students. The weekly programme is aired live on the FYE Youtube channel and helps incoming students to build affinity to our institution while giving them the “inside scoop” on all things relative to student life at our campus.  The show comprise 4 segments namely “Pelican Pride”, “Jewels of our Campus”, “The FYE Rundown” and “Look who stopped by” featuring a combination of video messages to new students and live interviews from key personnel at  our institution including the Vice-Chancellor, University Registrar and Deputy Campus Registrar. The season finale of the “FYE Buzz” is carded for August 23.

 Smart Start:

Held in the month of June, this pre-orientation virtual series featured 5 weekly sessions, designed to meet the early informational demands of incoming students. Varying topics were explored including “Fees & Funding”, “Academic Readiness & Academic Advising” and  “the University Experience beyond the Classroom”.
