Mr. Ashook Balroop

Bio: Mr. Ashook Balroop is an attorney-at-law and the Director of the Hugh Wooding Law School’s Legal Aid Clinic. He is also an Associate Tutor in the area of Landlord and Tenant at the Hugh Wooding Law School and a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid and Advisory Authority of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr. Balroop holds a Bachelor of Laws with honours from the University of London, a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School, a Master’s degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of the West Indies, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with Distinctions from the Edinburgh School of Business.
He was admitted to the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago in 2006, and his legal career spans both the public and private sectors.
His doctoral research examines the extent and effect of social insurance protection in the form of maternity and sickness benefits for women engaged in non-standard employment in Trinidad and Tobago.
