The Faculty of Law in collaboration with the European Union held a Panel Discussion on the topic of Violence against Women and Deconstructing Masculinity on 3 March 2016. This Panel Discussion is one of a series of events under the Faculty of Law’s European Union funded project entitledGrowing Capacity for Elevating Human Rights in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Panelists included: Dr. Levi Gahman, Institute for Gender and Development Studies; Natalie O'Brady, Rape Crisis Center & Coalition against Domestic Violence; Gaietry Pargass, Attorney-at-Law/CAFRA (T&T); and Veronica Aragón, Faculty of Law, St. Augustine. Elizabeth Solomon of the Caribbean Centre for Human Rights was the Moderator. The distinguished panel of experts discussed the impact of traditional conceptions of masculinity on the perpetuation of violence against women as well as the response of the justice system, in light of Trinidad and Tobago's International Human Rights commitments
