The UWI-TT RDI fund has recently sanctioned the project on “Promoting Agriculturally Important Microorganisms (AIMS) to address the challenges in Food Safety and Food Security in the Caribbean” to the Department of Food Production, Faculty of Food and Agriculture.
The project launch will be held on Thursday June 25 from 9 to 10.30am at the Lecture Hall B of Sir Frank Stockdale Building, Faculty of Food and Agriculture.
The AIMS project is envisioned to identify, characterize and promote agriculturally important indigenous microorganisms as biocontrol agents and biofertilizers in the perspective of plant disease and soil fertility management in an effort to reduce the use of hazardous pesticides in the region. Students, research scholars, representatives from various regional organisations and agricultural extension officials and vegetable growers and progressive farmers are invited to attend the launch.
