Student Notices

For students driving to campus, please be advised that all vehicles must have a new vehicle permit for the 2024/25 academic year. From September 02, 2024, students without a valid vehicle permit will not be able to access the campus via the North and South gates and will be redirected to the Visitor's Entrance, opposite Freedom Hall.

Here is some key information:

-          Students can apply for their vehicle permit via the online portal. Click here to access the application portal, and be sure to click on the STUDENTS tab

-          Students must have a valid student ID card in order to complete this application process, as they will be required to enter their Smart Card ID number, which is the 12-digit number on the front of the ID card. (Acquiring your UWI Student ID is one of the mandatory course registration steps. Click here to read more on how to apply for and collect the student ID card) 

-          Once students have successfully submitted their vehicle permit application, they can collect your permit on the same day

-          Student vehicle permits can be collected at the UWI Estate Police Charge Room (located opposite the tennis courts), Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

-          When collecting you permit, be sure to have your student ID card on hand

If you are unable to collect your permit in person, someone can do so on your behalf. They will need to provide the following:

-          A valid form of Photo identification, e.g., UWI ID Card, T&T Driver’s Permit, passport or National ID Card;

-          A signed letter from you authorizing the bearer to collect the Vehicle Permit. The letter should state:

-          Your full name; your student number; vehicle number(s); the full name of the person authorized to collect the permit and the corresponding ID number of the bearer’s photo ID, for verification purposes.

-          A copy of your UWI Student Smartcard ID Card. 

If students experience any difficulties while completing the online application form or have any questions or concerns, assistance can be sought at the charge room

All students are encouraged to submit your vehicle permit application at your earliest convenience to ensure that it is processed in a timely manner.
