The Main Library, University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus will host a display on Sir Arthur Lewis from Sept 22nd – Oct. 3rd on the ground floor. The display will highlight his achievements, tenure at the University College of the West Indies as Principal, his scholarship and the impact of his work.

Some of the items patrons can expect to see on display are:

  • A brief biography
  • Annotations on one of his essays by Dr. Eric Williams
  • Letters to his brother Earl Lewis
  • Correspondence as Principal of the UCWI
  • Publications by and about Sir Arthur Lewis.

 

The Main Library, The University of the West Indies St. Augustine Campus (http://www.mainlib.uwi.tt) is organized into four Subject Divisions, Engineering and Physical Sciences, Agriculture and Life Sciences, Humanities and Education, and Social Sciences. There are also the General Reference and Loans Division and the
West Indiana and Special Collections Division.
 The West Indiana and Special Collections Division is the repository of over 70 distinguished collections of rare Caribbean materials of great historic value. The Division has three of its special collections (The C.L.R. James Collection; The Derek Walcott Collection; and The Eric Williams Collection) listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World International Register.
