Governance and Operations
Mrs. Deborah Souza-Okpofabri’s focus has consistently been on providing expert guidance and strategic support for efficient and effective governance arrangements in higher education. She has a wealth of experience teaching math and physics across the Cambridge A’ Level syllabi, working in the private sector locally and in Nigeria, as well as within the various arms of The UWI. This is combined with a strong background in technical standards in areas of metrology, and quality management, and an absolute commitment to excellence. On a national service level, she has been involved in art and music education.
Her collaborations and successes at the UWI, St. Augustine Campus are numerous and well documented. These include establishment of critical Campus’ academic subcommittees, campus coordinator for institutional accreditation, and her work on other regional committees within The UWI, just to name a few. She has also designed and implemented online access to papers for boards and committees in 2006, making the St Augustine Campus the first campus in this regional university to have this facility. These are just some of her many successes over the years.
Mrs. Souza-Okpofabri has an MBA from Andrews University (USA), and a BSc in Pure and Applied Physics from The UWI. She holds certifications in corporate governance, Lead Auditor (ISO 9000), and Health and Safety, among other professional qualifications.
