Volunteer Coordination and Community Engagement & Outreach Committee

At The University of the West Indies (The UWI), education extends beyond the classroom. We are committed to developing distinctive graduates who are socially, culturally, and environmentally responsive.

As part of this commitment, UWI student-athletes will participate in a multi-phase outreach initiative at the St Mary’s Children’s Home in Tacarigua.

INITIATIVE ACTIVITIES

Phase 1: Regional Stationery Drive
A regional drive to support the Home’s learning room through donations of art supplies, literacy materials, and CSEC textbooks.

Phase 2: Multi-Sport Clinic and Mentorship
Date: Tuesday, May 26, 2026
Time: 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Venue: St Mary’s Children’s Home or Eddie Hart Savannah (to be confirmed)

Student-athletes will engage with children from the Home through basic skills training, motivational talks, and mentorship.

Phase 3: Resource Room Refurbishment and Beautification
Date: Friday, May 29, 2026
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This phase will include cleaning, painting, and general aesthetic enhancements to the Home’s resource room. Approximately 30–50 student-athletes will be required to support this activity.
