Health and Wellness

Healthy and Wellness Program

In response to the University's Policy for Health and Wellness (2013) and the increasing prevalence of obesity and chronic non-communicable diseases, the Health Services Unit (H.S.U) has embarked on a Healthy Lifestyle Initiative (H.L.I) that comprises four components namely, physical and mental health, nutrition and physical fitness. The purpose of the Healthy Lifestyle Initiative is to foster a supportive and proactive environment to members of the university community, students and staff.

Wellness is a way of life. It is associated with the philosophy that views health as the fullest realization of an individual's physical, social, spiritual and psychological potential. Wellness is achieved through a positive attitude, effective stress management, optimal physical health, and the avoidance of unhealthy practices.
