Open Data

The AgriNeTT Open Data Repository stores data sets from institutions and associations, including farm level production data, commodity prices and volumes, farm land spatial data, soils, weather and pest and diseases tracking data.

A prime objective in building this platform is to create a central repository for agriculture data in which the data sets can be visualized in different ways and where local developers can build applications, including mobile apps, which are useful to the national community. The AgriNeTT team has already built the two Open Data platforms using Open Source tools CKAN, (which is used by the USA and UK Open Data platforms) and GeoNode. These are available at http://data.tt and http://maps.tt (for spatial data). The repositories are continuously being populated with new data, including data sets giving daily commodity price data obtained from NAMDEVCO.

Data.tt

Data.tt is an open data repository used to store statistical data such as population counts, production output, product costs and even numerical data regarding pricing over time. Such data is stored in a variety of formats some of which include Excel and CSV. This platform thus provides a means by which data can be uploaded and viewed in tables and graphs for ease of understanding and usage.

Maps.tt

Maps.tt is an open data repository for spatial data which is created using the Geonode platform. Maps.tt provides a means by which spatial data in formats such as GeoJSON, KML and Shapefiles can be uploaded and viewed online as overlays on a map. This platform thus provides a means by which users can upload relevant and/or interesting spatial data which can be easily be viewed by users and exported for their own personal usage.
