About this Programme

The Tropical Animal Science and Production is offered as a blended/online Programme, that is designed to provide the graduate with a deeper knowledge on aspects of Animal Science and Livestock Production in Developing Tropical Environments, with respect to domestic and non-domestic livestock species. The Programme offers advanced training in the science of animal production and captive rearing and production of non-domesticated/wildlife animals. Applicants can choose to register for the Postgraduate (PG) Diploma or the Master of Science Degree in the Tropical Animal Science and Production Programme.
Areas covered include: Tropical Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Reproductive Physiology, Animal Production and Forage Utilisation, Livestock Development and Wildlife (Neo-tropical) Production, Utilisation, Management and Conservation.

Entry Requirements

To be admitted to the PG Diploma, candidates must normally possess:
a. a first degree in Agriculture, or related Biological Science degree
b. previous equivalent level of education and relevant experience which would be acceptable to the University
Mature students who do not satisfy the above requirements, but who have considerable work experience and who are deemed capable of achieving the standard of work required for the programmes may be permitted to enter these programmes at the discretion of the Faculty and the University.
