Description:

This programme is designed for prospective and current teachers of English in secondary schools in Trinidad & Tobago. The ELLE degree is made up of courses in English Language and Linguistics, Literatures in English and Education, and meets the Ministry of Education’s requirements for qualification as a graduate teacher or Teacher Ill under the current classification system.

Students may choose from the following combinations:

  1. a Double Major in Linguistics and Literatures in English;
  2. a Major in Linguistics with a Minor in Literatures in English;
  3. a Major in Literatures in English with a Minor in Linguistics.

CSEC Minimum passes: 5

CSEC Mandatory: English Language, Mathematics

CAPE Minimum passes: 2

Career Opportunities: English Language Teaching at the secondary level.
