Pre-Engineering Programme

The Certificate in Pre-Engineering is designed to enable students from the Caribbean and beyond, from broader educational backgrounds, to access Engineering programmes at UWI St. Augustine

Students pursue 30 credits of courses that develop the requisite foundations in Mathematics and Physics, and introduce them to Graphics, Workshop Practice, Innovation, technology and Entrepreneurship, and Social Science and the Humanities

DURATION OF STUDY

The programme extends over a period of three (3) semesters of full-time study.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

University Requirements

Applicants for admission to this course of study will be required to satisfy the minimum standards for entry to an Undergraduate programme as set out by the University Regulations governing matriculation as well as the special requirements of the Faculty.

Faculty Requirements:

Applicants must have:

Passes in at least 5 CXC CSEC subjects, or 5 GCE Ordinary Level subjects, all including Mathematics (Grades 1 or 2), Additional Mathematics, English A, Physics, Chemistry (Grades 1 to 3); or equivalent qualifications to these
OR
CAPE Unit 1 and 2 in Mathematics and Physics at minimum of Grade 4
OR
Technical diplomas from recognised tertiary level institutions
OR
Relevant high school passes from international institutions, relevant college entry exams from other countries, with grades and subjects equivalent to the CSEC passes identified above.
