Abrahams Mwasha is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago. He was Deputy Dean (Facilities) from August 1st 2017 to August 2022 (5 years). He was Campus Chairman on Health and Safety from August 2020 to August 2022 and the Green Engineering coordinator (Civil Engineering) from August 2008 to August 2022. Professor Mwasha has acted on several occasions as Head of the Civil Engineering Department. From 12th to 17th August 2019 he acted as the Dean, in the Faculty of Engineering. In June 2016 Professor Mwasha played major role in developing Green Engineering syllabus for the Caribbean Exanimation Council. From June 2012 to June 2022 (10 years) he was the Chief Examiner for the woodwork and Green Engineering Programmes. He earned his PhD from the University of Wolverhampton in West Midlands UK. His specific interests are on Sustainable construction materials, Sustainable building envelope and Building Services with particular expertise in construction materials and building energy modelling; life-cycle assessment processes and technologies including sustainable refurbishment and modernisation of the building environment. Before joining the University of the West Indies (UWI) in May 2006, he was a research assistant at Wolverhampton University in West Midlands UK, specializing on Sustainable Construction Materials for the ground Engineering. He was the project Structural Engineer with Danish Internal Aid (DANIDA) at the Project Implementation Section (PIS) for 10 years. He was the construction site manager at the Morogoro Vocational Training Centre.

Professor Mwasha was the Guest Editor “The Uncertainties in Climate Change and Its Consequences in Sustainable Development”, Handling Editor at the International Journal of Environment and Waste Management (2015- 2019) and International Journal of Environmental Engineering (IJEE) http://www.inderscience.com/ijee (2015-2019). He is the recipient and the winner of the Bizcom, UK award for the idea of “Novel and Sustainable Technology”. Professor Mwasha has received Special Service Award for the contribution and service as a chairperson of national Standards Committee Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards 2014.
